Cultural Betting Styles

This is such an interesting observation. I’ve noticed similar things when watching how people from different countries approach risk and betting. There’s a great piece https://boroktimes.com/money-and-luck-the-psychology-of-risk-taking-in-different-cultures/ called Money and Luck: The Psychology of Risk-Taking in Different Cultures that breaks down why these differences exist. It explains how some cultures normalize betting as a ritual or even social bonding, while others associate it with moral or financial decline. The article gives examples of how these attitudes are rooted in longstanding beliefs about fate, control, and personal responsibility. After reading it, a lot of things started making sense to me. It’s a really thoughtful and insightful read.

Honestly, this explains so much. I grew up in a pretty conservative household when it came to money, so taking risks always felt uncomfortable. Maybe it's not just me after all.
